American Airlines Flight Attendants Say No Deal; Strike Could be Ahead.

EULESS – (WBAP/KLIF)- American Airlines flight attendants say no deal has been reached with the airline to provide a boost in pay and other issues facing it’s union, the Association of Professional Flight Attendants, and the union says it is asking for a release from federal mediation. if granted, that would be followed by a 30-day cooling off period, during which the union would prepare for a strike at the end of those 30 days. American Airlines would stillb e able to present a deal during that period.

APFA notes many of it’s flight attendants, all working under a contract last negotiated in 2014, are accessing public assistance to get by in larger cities in which they work, including New York, Boston, and Miami. It notes rising inflation, the cost of housing and other costs of living make the last deal to go into effect have negated what was negotiated and ratified last time around.
