Former Tarrant County Cop Convicted of Murder

(WBAP/KLIF) — A former Tarrant County narcotics detective guilty of murder.

In 2020, 39-year-old Jay Rotter reported that his girlfriend had shot herself and committed suicide at their Denton home. However, an investigation into the shooting showed evidence inconsistent with suicide and contradicted the character of the 46-year-old victim, Leslie Hartman, according to her family and friends.

A Denton county jury has found Rotter guilty of murder, this week, and sentenced the former detective to 30 years in prison. The 39-year old had a felony amount of drugs at the home and was also accused of tampering with evidence. It only took the jury only a couple of hours to convict the former narcotics officer.

Rotter is currently in the Denton County Jail.
