Navarro County

NAVARRO COUNTY – (WBAP/KLIF) – Navarro County Volunteer Fire Departments warn they may not have the gasoline to dispatch help to county residents involved in a fire or needing medical help. The current contract with volunteer fire departments in the county expired two months ago, leaving 23 departments whtout the monthly $800 to run them.

Officials are warning they can’t buy fueld to go out and fight fires and help in calls for sick residents. One just sold their command vehicle in an effort to raise money money for gasoline and other expenses in the meantime.

New contract provisions were rejected several times in talks; who is liable should things go wrong appears to be the major sticking point.
