Family Violence Call Ends in Fatal Officer-Involved Shooting in Grand Prairie

GRAND PRAIRIE (WBAP/KLIF News ) – A deadly officer-involved shooting that occurred during a family violence call in Grand Prairie over the weekend is under investigation.

According to a press release, Grand Prairie police officers were called to a home in the 1200 block of Tripoli Trail near Paris Drive around 7:10 p.m. Saturday after receiving a report that a woman was being assaulted inside.

Once they arrived, the victim escaped through a window to get to safety.

Investigators said as the victim was talking to police, another woman began walking toward them while pointing a gun in their direction.

One officer fired the fatal shot over safety concerns for the other officers and the victim, according to the release. They rendered first aid to the suspect who died of her injuries at the scene.

That officer has been placed on administrative leave. The Dallas County District Attorney’s Office Officer-Involved Shooting Team is also investigating.
