DALLAS – (WBAP/KLIF) – The American Red Cross says it’s experiencing it’s worst emergency blood shorate in 20 years time. Blood and platelet donors are urged to make appointments to help ease the shorage and ensure lifesaving medical procedures for many are not put on hold.
In the past 20 years, the number of Red Cross blood donors has dropped about 40 percent.
Blood drives around North Texas will bring the collection effort to several cities through the end of the month. With severe weather, demand could increase. Donors with blood type O and those giving platelets are particularly urged to donate and help their community.
