FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF News ) – The Fort Worth Fire Department is asking for prayers after four of their crew members were involved in a serious crash while responding to a structure fire on Pecos Street around 2:30 Tuesday morning.

The crash involving Fire Engine 3 occurred at Wilbarger Street and Village Creek Road. Authorities said the driver lost control and rolled the engine over.

One firefighter was ejected and is in critical condition. At least one other was reported as pinned in the crash and left with serious injuries.

The Fort Worth Fire Department’s Craig Trojacek said other first responders rushed to the scene to help out. “I am not sure how many trucks responded here after they heard the truck had rolled over…but we did have our squad that has rescue tools to come on to the scene to help out,” he said.

The firefighter in critical condition continues treatment in the Intensive Care Unit at JPS; the second in serious condition is believed still hospitalized and two others are reported as treated and released.

Fort Worth Mayor Mattie Parker issued a statement Tuesday morning about the crash that said in part”

“Our firefighters are always there for our community, and right now, we need the community’s prayers for their recovery and healing.”

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
