City of Borger Addressing Immediate Donation Needs As Crews Continue to Battle Panhandle Wildfires

BORGER (WBAP/KLIF News ) – Officials with the City of Borger said it’s in need of clean up materials such as shovels, rakes, gloves and heavy duty trash bags as it continues to clean up areas ravaged by the ongoing wildfires in the panhandle.

In a Facebook post on Sunday; the city said its immediate needs like water and other drinks have been met but cash donations are still being accepted.

Hutchinson County officials said giving cash to voluntary organizations will help “meet the ongoing and long term needs of survivors who are in a better position to purchase what they need.”

As residents from Texas and beyond donate supplies and cash to victims and crews battle the flames, the many of the wildfires continues to burn.

The largest blaze, the Smokehouse Creek Fire, has burned almost 1.1 million acres and is about 15% contained.
