(WBAP/KLIF) – PLANO, TX – On Monday night, the Plano City Council met to discuss regulating short term rentals in single family neighborhoods. About sixty homeowners from Plano attended the meeting to speak on the issue, and shared horror stories with council members.

Since the temporary ban on new short term rentals is expiring next month, the Plano City Council elected to adopt a zoning rule that will ban new short term rental properties from opening in single family neighborhoods. While existing rentals on apps like Air B&B will be able to continue operating, they will have to register with the city. Even though the city council is still working on the details of the new ordinance, new listings will not be allowed.
