Paxton Files Injunction to Stop Biden’s Title IX Overhaul

(WBAP/KLIF) — Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has filed an amended complaint and a preliminary injunction against the Biden Administration’s attempt to remove Title IX protections for women in the nation’s schools.

The amended complaint highlights the history of Title IX, stating that the law’s “prohibition on sex-based discrimination was understood to mean biological sex, not gender identity.” The new rule from the U.S. Department of Education requires schools to allow men in female bathrooms and locker rooms, on women’s sports teams, and requires schools to punish those who refer to people by biologically accurate pronouns.

Paxton is attempting to stop the new rule from taking effect while his original lawsuit proceeds. As it stands now, schools have until August 1st to comply with the new rules or face losing federal funding.
