Texas DPS Investigating Wise County Crash that Killed 4 People, Including 3 Kids

WISE COUNTY (WBAP/KLIF News ) – The Wise County Community is mourning the death of four people, including three children, who were killed in a fiery head-on crash with an 18-wheeler this week.

The Texas Department of Public Safety Public Information Officer Josue De La Cerda said the crash happened around 5:30 Tuesday morning on Farm Road 1810 at County Road 1340 east of Chico.

Texas DPS investigators said an SUV was trying to pass another vehicle in a no-passing zone when it collided with the 18-wheeler. Everyone in the SUV died at the scene.

The driver of the 18-wheeler is expected to recover. DPS identified the driver of the SUV as 32-year-old Brandy Nicole Price. The others in the vehicle were kids ages, 10, 7 and 3. Their identities have not been released.

Chico ISD Superintendent Randy Brawner posted on social media that two of the victims attended Chico Elementary School.

“It is with a heavy heart that I inform you of the passing of two Chico Elementary students. Such a sudden loss of a classmate can have a profound effect on students even if they are not in the same class. It would not be unusual for students to behave or express themselves differently during the next few weeks,” said the statement. “Our continued priority is the emotional and physical well-being of all our students.”

The district has counselors on campus to help grieving students and staff.

Texas DPS is investigating the crash.
