One North Texas School District Will Start Serving an Alternative Meal to Students With School Lunch Debt

(WBAP/KLIF) – KELLER, TX – Less than two weeks from now some students at Keller I-S-D will start receiving a different meal from their classmates if they haven’t paid their lunch fees. The district stated that it will impact students in all grade levels with unpaid balances over $25 dollars. Both student and their parents will be notified when they hit that threshold.

For breakfast students will get a sun butter and jelly sandwich. The lunch entree will be a turkey and cheese sandwich. Both meals will be served with fruit and milk.

Keller I-S-D sent a letter to parents stating that it wants to, “ensure that all students have access to nutritious meals during school hours regardless of financial circumstances while also addressing costly negative balances”.

The change goes into effect on Monday, October 21st.
