Governor Abbott Signs Law Creating a State Version of DOGE

(WBAP/KLIF) — Governor Greg Abbott held a bill-signing ceremony for signing Senate Bill 14, which is a law that creates an efficiency office in Texas, similar to President Trump’s DOGE. The bill intends to streamline and improve the way state agencies enact and enforce regulations as the Texas Regulatory Efficiency Office.

In a statement, Lt. Governor Dan Patrick said, “I prioritized SB 14 because President Trump’s creation of the ‘Department of Government Efficiency’ inspired me to find ways Texas can save taxpayers and businesses money by cutting burdensome regulations.”

Abbott says the Texas Regulatory Efficiency Office will focus on identifying and implementing efficiencies in the rule-making process, helping agencies identify unnecessary rules, and coordinating with other state entities to improve public access to information about state regulations.
