COLLIN COUNTY, Texas — Collin County Health Care Services confirmed that a resident has tested positive for measles, making them the second reported case in the county.
According to a news release from Health Care Services, the person who tested positive for measles visited the Walmart, located at 16066 State Hwy 121 in Frisco, on April 29 between 1:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.
Health Care Services said if you were at the Walmart on that day and are unvaccinated, pregnant, or immunocompromised, you should contact your healthcare provider immediately.
Anyone who visited Walmart during that time should monitor themselves for measles symptoms, Health Care Services said, which include:
- Fever
- Dry Cough
- Runny nose
- Sore throat
- Inflamed eyes
- Koplik’s spots: Small white spots with bluish-white centers located inside the mouth
- A skin rash made up of large, flat blotches
If you develop symptoms, Health Care Services said you should stay home and avoid contact with others, contact your healthcare provider and call before visiting a clinic or hospital to prevent exposure.
