U.S. Supreme Court Pauses Deportations to El Salvador’s CECOT Prison in Legal Challenge From North Texas-Held Venezuelan Men.

WASHINGTON – (WBAP/KLIF) – The U.S. Supreme Court deals a blow to the Trump administration, ordering a pause on near-immediate deportations of Venezuelan men in the United States to El Salvador’s terrorist prison, CECOT.

Venezuelan men held in Texas petitioned the court to prevent the government from sending them to CECOT after 24 hours notice; little time to launch a legal challenge

Justices ruled 7-2, clarifying an unusual order issued by justices on April 19th, that hit pause on government plans to deport people held in North Texas.

“Under these circumstances, notice roughly 24 hours before removal, devoid of information about how to exercise due process rights to contest that removal, surely does not pass muster,” the ruling said.
