(WBAP/KLIF) – AUSTIN, TX – On Tuesday the Senate passed HB 4 with bipartisan support in a 23 to 8 vote. The bill reinstates consistent issuance of A through F accountability ratings while prohibiting the use of taxpayer dollars on lawfare against those ratings. The other main component of HB 4 replaces the STAAR exam with an assessment that will be administered three times per year to track student progress. HB 4 also strengthens college and career readiness metrics by aligning industry certifications with job market demand and earnings potential. The bill now returns to the house author, Representative Buckley for conference and final approval.
