AUSTIN – (WBAP/KLIF) – The Dallas Morning News reports Governor Greg Abbott is deploying more than five thousand Texas National Guard troops and two thousand state troopers with special agents working alongside the Texas Rangers for scores of protests statewide against President Trump’s immigration raids.

The events Saturday in Dallas, Fort Worth, Arlington, Frisco, McKinney, Denton, Flower Mound and more, will coincide with protests to be held nationwide, protesting ongoing and aggressive immigration sweeps and arrests in Texas and nationwide.

DMN reports Jolt Action, a non-profit group strengthening Latino civil participation in Texas, calls the deployments in Texas an undermining of free speech and peaceful assembly protected by the first amendment.
