(WBAP/KLIF) – AUSTIN, TX – About 50 Republican lawmakers, including Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick signed on to a letter asking Governor Abbott to add abortion restrictions to the special session agenda. They are pushing SB 2880, which is a bill that would give any Texas citizen the power to sue anyone who mails, distributes, or manufactures abortion inducing medication. While the bill passed the senate, it did not pass the house during the regular session. The bill was written to mimic the heartbeat bill, which was passed back in 20-21, where citizens are the enforcers of the law.
