Death Toll of Texas Flooding Rises

(WBAP/KLIF) — During a press conference at Spur Arena in San Angelo, Thursday, Governor Greg Abbott updated the overall death toll due to Texas Hill Country flooding to 135. 116 of those victims lost their lives in Kerrville.
the governor says the number of missing has dropped to 100.

Abbott also eluded to this being one of the biggest disasters in Texas history, as more people lost their lives in Kerrville, than the total death toll of Hurricane Harvey. Texas Division of Emergency Management Chief Nim Kidd praises the cooperation among first responders.

Meanwhile, Republican state senator Charles Perry tells reporters that lawmakers want to leave the state better than it was before during the legislature’s upcoming special session. The state legislature convenes, Monday, to begin a special session to address improving the warning system for natural disasters.
