(WBAP/KLIF) The Denton Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred downtown Saturday afternoon that left a man deceased.
Around 12:10 p.m., multiple 911 callers reported a shooting in the 200 block of W. Hickory Street.
The preliminary investigation showed that a disturbance occurred on the Downtown Square between a male patron and an individual experiencing homelessness prior to the shooting.
The subject remained on scene and was detained by police for questioning upon their arrival. The shooting victim was transported to a hospital, where life-saving measures were unsuccessful. The investigation is ongoing.
