WASHINGTON – (WBAP/KLIF) – President Donald Trump says the United States will not deploy “troops on the ground” in American defense of Ukraine against Russia. Trump does say the U.S. will be involved in security guarantees for Ukraine after the war is settled, and may have offered more clarity in a potential American role, noting during an interview, “We’re willing to help them with things, especially probably….by air, because there’s notbody that has the kind of stuff we have.”

As President Trump seeks to broker peace between Ukraine and Russia, the matter of security guarantees for Ukraine, against any possible future, additional invasions by Russia, is coming to the issue fore. After meeting with European leaders at the White House Monday, in addition to meeting with Ukraine’s President Volodimir Zelenskyy, Trump posted on social media security guarantees “would be provided by the various European countries, with a coordination with the United States of America.”

All details of a peace agreement under discussion have yet to be released by the White House.
