AUSTIN – (WBAP/KLIF)- Texas Governor Greg Abbott signs an executive order, mandating some restrictions to the sales of THC-containing products.
Effective immediately, no sales of THC products will be allowed to those individuals under the age of 21, and proof of age via identification will be required at points of sale.
The order follows the failure of Texas lawmakers to agree on how to corral the growing THC product market. Several state agencies, including the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission are now tasked with finding the most expedient and effective way of testing products and providing improved, detailed labeling to allow for better informed consumers.,
Governor Abbott’s orders also call for a hike in licensing fees to pay for enforcement of rules, regulations and other laws as they now stand or are revised or added too in the future. The fee hikes would ostensibly help to pay for enforcement by local law enforcement agencies across the state.
Abbott’s order comes less than a week after lawmakers ended a second special legislative session without coming to agreement on how to corral the quickly-growing THC market.
