Venezuelan President’s YouTube Account Offline as Tensions With US Escalate

BOGOTA, Colombia (AP) — Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro’s YouTube account is offline. Venezuelan state-run channel Telesur claims it was “eliminated” without explanation. Google, YouTube’s parent company, hasn’t responded to questions about the termination. This comes amid rising tensions between Venezuela and the United States over American military deployments in the southern Caribbean. Maduro’s account had over 200,000 followers and featured his speeches and TV show clips. YouTube states it removes accounts for repeated violations of community guidelines. Relations between Venezuela and the U.S. have worsened, with both sides accusing each other of aggression.
