Telecom Failures Caused Hundreds of North Texas Flights to Be Canceled and Delayed

(WBAP/KLIF) – DALLAS, TX – The Federal Aviation Administration is blaming a telecommunications issue for canceling and delaying hundreds of flights at both DFW Airport and at Love Field on Friday. According to the FAA, air traffic controllers at both airports were unable to communicate because of a fiber optic cable issue with Frontier Communications. More than 100,000 customers were affected by cancellations, delays, diversions, and missed connections. Officials with American Airlines stated that any customers who were impacted are able to rebook their flights without being charged any change fees.
