(WBAP/KLIF) – MCKINNEY, TX – The City of McKinney has officially passed two controversial ordinances aimed at addressing homelessness in public spaces. One makes it unlawful to sleep, lie, or sit on a public sidewalk, street, or median, while the other would prohibit camping on a publicly accessible space. At a city council meeting some residents called the city heartless, while others stated that the city was addressing a major problem. Since the city did approved both ordinances police can now give out warnings, and citations for violating the two ordinances.
