Texas Lawsuit Against Companies Behind Tylenol Asserts Unproven Claims of Autism Risk

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is accusing the companies behind Tylenol of deceptively marketing the pain reliever to pregnant mothers. The lawsuit asserts unproven claims that early exposure to acetaminophen increases risk of autism and other disorders. Paxton announced the lawsuit against Johnson & Johnson and Kenvue on Tuesday. It alleges that the companies violated consumer protection laws, hiding the danger that acetaminophen posed and “deceptively marketed Tylenol as the only safe painkiller for pregnant women.” It also alleges Johnson & Johnson fraudulently transferred liabilities to Kenvue to shield assets against lawsuits. Kenvue says it will defend itself, expressing concern about “misinformation” and the potential impact on the health of women and children.
