Dallas Police Report No Threat in Packages Found at Dallas Ice Facility

DALLAS – WFAA – (WBAP/KLIF) Hazmat crews on Friday morning responded to the Dallas Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) office, where a suspicious package was found, but police say there was no threat.

Dallas Fire-Rescue officials initially reported that its hazmat team was responding to the ICE office, located at 8101 North Stemmons Freeway, around 7 a.m. Friday, on reports of an “unknown substance.”

Shortly before 9 a.m., Dallas police said the response stemmed from a suspicious package but that the package had been checked out and no threat was found.

The ICE office is where a shooting happened in September. The suspect, identified by authorities as 29-year-old Joshua Jahn, fired shots at the ICE office and killed two detainees and wounded one other, officials said.

Jahn was later found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound on the roof of a nearby building.

After the shooting, officials say they found rounds of ammunition near the suspected shooter that contained “anti-ICE” messages, according to Joe Rothrock, special agent in charge of the Dallas FBI Field Office.
