U.S. Supreme Court Allows Texas Use of Trump-Backed Congressional Maps in Midterm Elections

WASHINGTON, D.C. – (WBAP/KLIF) – Amid objections from three liberal justices, the U.S. Supreme Court Thursday allows Texas to use a congressional map boosting the efforts of President Donald Trump to keep Republicans in control of Congress, blocking a lower court ruling finding the new boundaries likely unconstitutional, because they appear to be drawn based on race.

The decision could have significant consequences for next year’s midterm elections, determining control of the House for the final two years of the Trump presidency. Had Texas been blocked from using the redrawn map, it would have upended Trump’s nationwide push to avoid a Democratic majority.
