NEW YORK (WBAP/KLIF) The Dow Jones Industrial stock average closed above the 49,000 point mark for the first time ever Tuesday, as traders appear to be focusing beyond immediate world political tensions.
The Dow gained 485 point, or .99% gain, to close at a record high of 49, 462.08.
The broader S & P 500 rose .62% and also hit a record high, it’s first since December 24th. Nasdaq Composite was up .65%.
Wall Street is shrugging off uncertainty about the U.S. capture of Nicholas Maduro of Venezuela, focusing instead on
fundamentals for markets, including expectations for strong corporate earnings and optimism about Federal Reserve interest rate cuts yet ahead this year.
