(WBAP/KLIF) — WFAA News 8 — Several North Texas high schools reported bomb threats on Wednesday and two were closed as a result, police said.
Anna, Coppell and Duncanville High Schools all reported bomb threats. Anna and Coppell closed for the day as a result of the threats.
Around 8:20 a.m. Wednesday, Coppell ISD and police were made aware of a possible threat at the high school, the district said in a statement to parents. Classes were delayed, the students and teachers currently in the school were evacuated, and buses en route to school were deferred, officials said.
Both Duncanville and Anna ISD were made aware of bomb threats before students arrived at school, officials said.
Duncanville police conducted a sweep of the campus and the surrounding buildings and found there was no credible threat to campus, the district said in a statement. Classes went on as planned there, officials said.
“We also want to share that this situation appears to be consistent with similar hoax threats that other school districts across the region have received in recent weeks,” the district said.
Anna ISD decided to close Anna High School on Wednesday after receiving notice of the threats.
In a social media post around 11 a.m. on Wednesday, the Coppell Police Department said there is a large police presence on campus while police investigate the bomb threat. The high school will remain closed on Wednesday while police investigate, the district said.
“We want to thank the Coppell Police Department for their swift response, as well as commend the CHS staff and students who were on campus for responding calmly to this situation,” the statement reads. “We are also aware of other similar threats at other schools and districts in our area.”
Students at the CHS9 freshman campus and New Tech are returning to campus to finish the day, officials said.
