(WBAP/KLIF) — The statewide gas price average in Texas is $3.60 per gallon for regular unleaded fuel, according to the AAA Texas Weekend Gas Watch. That price is 14 cents less when compared to this day last week and is 85 cents more per gallon compared to this day last year.
Of the major metropolitan areas surveyed in Texas, drivers in El Paso are paying the most on average at $3.80 per gallon while drivers in Lubbock are paying the least at $3.30 per gallon. The national average price for a gallon of regular unleaded is $4.03, which is six cents less when compared to this day last week and 86 cents more when compared to this day last year.
“Drivers across Texas are getting a small break as gas prices move lower for the second week in a row,” said Daniel Armbruster, spokesperson for AAA Texas. “That said, oil markets are still reacting to events overseas, and any new disruption involving global crude supply could affect what drivers pay in the weeks ahead.”
Texas gas prices have fallen for the second straight week, giving drivers a bit of relief even as international oil market volatility continues. Although prices at the pump have eased, crude oil remains elevated, with Brent above $101 a barrel and West Texas Intermediate near $93, as tensions involving Iran and shipping disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz continue to create uncertainty in global energy markets. Meanwhile, the latest EIA data showed U.S. gasoline inventories dropped by 4.6 million barrels last week, underscoring how supply-and-demand dynamics could continue to influence fuel prices in the weeks ahead.
