(WBAP/KLIF) – FORT WORTH, TX – The Fort Worth city council unanimously voted to deny a proposal for a permanent concrete batch plant near homes and an elementary school. The proposed plant would have been located in the diamond hill neighborhood next to b-n-s-f’s north yard. The nearest home would be located 335 feet away, while the school would be located over a thousand feet north of the proposed facility. Despite existing land-use rules allowing batch plants, the council cited concerns about proximity to residential areas and the school in their decision to reject the project. The decision follows opposition from neighbors and council member Carlos Flores, who noted the changing development in the area away from heavy industrial uses.
