The German soccer fan who became one of the 2026 World Cup’s unexpected social media stars by celebrating ordinary American experiences says he is planning a fall return, with college football as the main attraction and the State Fair of Texas on his wish list.
“We’re planning another USA trip this fall!” the fan, known online as Freddy, wrote Wednesday on X.
“It’s going to be a road trip with college football as the main focus, but we’re also planning to check out plenty of other sports and unique American events,” he added.

The post had drawn 6.7 million views by Thursday morning. Freddy, whose X account has more than 762,000 followers, asked Americans to recommend colleges, games and other events worth seeing in September or October.
His initial wish list includes Oktoberfest in Helen, Georgia; the State Fair of Texas; and the Breeders’ Cup at Keeneland in Kentucky. He paired the request with a U.S. map but did not announce a fixed route.
A Dallas doubleheader awaits
As previously reported by The Dallas Express, the 2026 State Fair of Texas runs from September 25 through October 18 at Fair Park in Dallas.
Freddy could combine his Texas fair visit with one of college football’s signature rivalries. The Texas Longhorns and Oklahoma Sooners will meet in the Red River Rivalry at 2:30 p.m. on October 10 inside the Cotton Bowl, which sits in the middle of the fairgrounds.
Freddy has not said which colleges or games he will visit. A Dallas stop on October 10, however, would place his two stated interests at the same destination on the same day.
From World Cup tourist to online favorite
Freddy began a six-week trip through the United States and Canada in June to follow Germany during the World Cup. His enthusiastic posts about Waffle House, Buc-ee’s, American road trips and stadium culture drew millions of views and attracted attention from sports figures, public officials and major brands.
His visits to college towns helped inspire the next trip. At Auburn in June, Freddy attended a pre-World Cup match at Jordan-Hare Stadium and marveled at the size and atmosphere of the venue.
“The idea for this trip actually came from our visits to a few colleges on the last trip,” he wrote Wednesday. “Everyone told us how crazy it gets on gamedays, so now we want to experience it ourselves.”
