White Castle plans to build its third announced Texas restaurant near EpicCentral in Grand Prairie, extending the slider chain’s North Texas expansion before its first location in the state has opened.
Grand Prairie Economic Development announced Wednesday on Facebook that the restaurant would be located in the EpicCentral area along the State Highway 161 corridor.
City officials did not release an exact address, construction schedule or opening date for the Grand Prairie restaurant.
White Castle expands across North Texas
The family-owned chain broke ground June 2, 2026, on its first Texas restaurant at Grandscape in The Colony. The 3,430-square-foot restaurant at 4520 Destination Drive is expected to open in late fall 2026.
A Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation filing lists a $2.1 million construction cost for The Colony project. Plans include a double drive-thru with a canopy and patio seating.
White Castle also plans a second Texas restaurant at 6013 Retail Way in the Shops at Chisholm Trail Ranch in southwest Fort Worth.
State records list a January 4, 2027, construction start and an April 16, 2027, completion date for the 2,764-square-foot Fort Worth project. The company plans to spend an estimated $2.1 million on the restaurant, which will also include a double drive-thru and patio seating. Construction schedules listed in state filings remain subject to change.
The Grand Prairie announcement gives White Castle three planned restaurants in the Dallas-Fort Worth area within roughly a year of the company’s initial Texas expansion announcement.
White Castle began in Wichita, Kansas, in 1921 and describes itself as America’s first fast-food hamburger chain. The Columbus, Ohio-based company operates nearly 350 restaurants in 15 states and has sold its frozen sliders through grocery stores nationwide.
The chain has served The Original Slider since its founding. White Castle sells the small, square hamburgers on steamed buns with onions and a pickle.
