The Republican National Committee has opened a public lottery for free tickets to its first midterm convention, giving members of the public a chance to attend the September 9-10 gathering at American Airlines Center in Dallas featuring President Donald Trump.
How the Ticket Lottery Works
Applicants can request up to six general seated tickets for September 9, September 10, or both days through the official convention website. The RNC will notify winners on September 4 and give them 24 hours to claim their tickets, RNC spokesman Zach Kraft told The Dallas Express in an email.
Kraft said some winners will receive VIP front-row seats. Attendees will also have access to Victory Plaza, where organizers plan food, drinks, entertainment, and surprise guests.
Largest GOP Convention Since 2016
“This event will be larger than the Republican convention in Milwaukee in 2024,” RNC spokesman Zach Kraft told CBS News Texas.
Kraft said the event will have capacity for more than 20,000 attendees, including media, making it the party’s largest convention of any kind since 2016.
As previously reported by The Dallas Express, Trump announced the Dallas dates in a Truth Social post and called the convention a “truly Historic Event.” RNC Chairman Joe Gruters has called it a “Trumpapalooza” intended to build momentum before the November midterm elections.
Republicans Frame the Midterms
Kraft said the event will highlight tax cuts, border security, anti-fraud efforts and what the RNC describes as a historic drop in crime while contrasting Republican and Democratic positions.
Dallas County Democratic Party Chairman Kardal Coleman told CBS News Texas that Democrats are planning competing events during the convention, including fundraisers, demonstrations and rallies.
The public lottery expands access beyond convention slots allocated to state parties for fundraising. The Republican Party of Texas previously offered participation packages ranging from $5,000 to $20,000, with benefits that varied by tier, Texas Scorecard reported.
Kraft said organizers also want roughly 750 volunteers per day from the Dallas area.
The official ticket form warns that receiving a credential does not guarantee entry if the arena reaches capacity. Each attendee must appear in person, register the credential, and follow event and security instructions.
