The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service announced that Star Meat Delivery Inc. of Lucama, North Carolina, is recalling approximately 167,639 pounds of raw pork, beef, and goat products produced without federal inspection and bearing labels with a false USDA mark of inspection.
The products were shipped to A&D Foods, a Georgia distributor, for further distribution to retail and restaurant locations nationwide, according to the official FSIS recall notice.
FSIS classified the action as a Class I recall, the agency’s most serious recall category, used when there is a reasonable probability that use of the product could cause serious adverse health consequences or death.
No illnesses or injuries had been confirmed in connection with the recalled products as of the September 22 notice.
What Was Recalled
The recalled products were produced on various dates before September 22, vacuum-sealed, and packed in cardboard boxes for shipment, FSIS said.
The products were distributed under the A&D Foods label and included numerous raw pork, beef, and goat items, including goat cuts, sliced ribeye, thin-sliced beef chuck, beef short ribs, beef feet, ground pork, pork chorizo, pork chops, pork feet, pork hocks, menudo mix, and sliced or diced pork Boston butt.
FSIS posted a full product label packet and said the list could be updated if additional products are identified.
The recalled products bear false USDA inspection marks displaying establishment number “EST. 1363.”
FSIS said that number does not correspond to an establishment with a federal grant of inspection.
“Any product bearing the false establishment number ‘EST. 1363’ should be considered misbranded and unsafe to eat,” the agency said in its recall notice.
At 167,639 pounds, the recall represents more than 83 tons of meat.
Shoppers May Not See The Original Label
Consumers may not necessarily find “EST. 1363” printed on the package sitting in their refrigerator or freezer.
FSIS said the meat was shipped in bulk and individual consumer packages may not carry the original labeling because retail stores may have added their own pricing and safe-handling stickers.
That makes the agency’s product-label packet important for consumers trying to determine whether a purchase may be affected.
The products were shipped to A&D Foods in Georgia before being distributed to restaurants and retail locations nationwide.
Why Meat Produced Without Inspection Is Recalled
Federal inspection is intended to ensure meat products are produced under required food-safety conditions before they carry an official USDA inspection mark.
FSIS warns that food produced without the benefit of inspection can contain undeclared allergens, harmful bacteria, or other contaminants.
The agency discovered the problem during surveillance activities.
FSIS urged consumers not to eat affected products and told restaurants and retailers not to sell or serve them.
The recalled meat should be discarded or returned to the place of purchase. Anyone concerned about illness or injury should contact a healthcare provider.
The agency also warned that some recalled products could still be sitting in home refrigerators or freezers or in restaurant and retail storage.
FSIS routinely conducts recall-effectiveness checks to determine whether companies have notified customers and whether recalled products have been removed from commerce.
A retail distribution list may be posted on the FSIS recalls page when available.
Previous Meat Recalls Covered By The Dallas Express
The Dallas Express has previously reported several large meat recalls and public-health alerts, though the reasons have varied.
In December 2024, The Dallas Express reported on more than 10,000 pounds of pork and beef products recalled over separate inspection and labeling issues. One of those recalls involved about 7,485 pounds of sausage distributed without required FSIS inspection.
In October 2025, DX covered a 2.2-million-pound recall of Golden Island Korean barbecue pork jerky sold at Costco and Sam’s Club after consumers reported finding metal in the product. That jerky carried a legitimate USDA establishment number and was recalled over possible foreign-material contamination.
In May 2026, DX reported a USDA public-health alert involving beef kofta served at The Kebab Shop locations, including restaurants in McKinney and The Colony, because of possible E. coli contamination.
The Star Meat Delivery recall differs from those cases because FSIS says the affected products were produced without required federal inspection and carried a false federal inspection mark.
What Consumers Should Do
Consumers who believe they purchased affected pork, beef, or goat products should compare the meat with the FSIS product-label packet.
Any recalled product should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.
