A man is in custody after a confrontation with Arlington police overnight led officers to an apartment, where a 5-year-old was found fatally stabbed and a second child was injured.
Police say the suspect approached an officer at a gas station while armed with a knife and said he had stabbed a child. He then fled in a vehicle. Officers pursued him on Interstate 30 and stopped him near Carrier Parkway, where they used a Taser to take him into custody.
After the stop, the suspect directed officers to a first-floor unit at an Arlington apartment complex.
Inside, police found two injured children, per Fox 4 KDFW. The 5-year-old was taken to a hospital and later died. Police have not released the extent of the second child’s injuries.
Police have not released the name of the 5-year-old or the second child and have not disclosed the suspect’s relationship to the children. The circumstances and a possible motive remain under investigation.
