Houston’s last chance ended with an incomplete Hail Mary as time expired, sealing a win that pulled Dallas to 2–2 and dropped the Texans to 0–4.
The Cowboys erased a 10-point halftime deficit behind Javonte Williams, who rushed for 62 yards and three touchdowns on 19 carries before Prescott and Lamb delivered the decisive score.
Prescott completed 32 of 45 passes for 335 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions. Lamb caught 17 passes for 189 yards and the winning score, according to the updated box score.
Williams powers second-half comeback
Dallas entered halftime trailing 16–6, with its offense limited to Brandon Aubrey field goals of 39 and 50 yards. Houston built its advantage behind a touchdown pass from C.J. Stroud to Nico Collins and three Ka’imi Fairbairn field goals.
KaVontae Turpin helped change the game immediately after halftime, returning the kickoff into Houston territory.
Prescott connected with Lamb for a 30-yard gain before Williams finished the possession with an 8-yard touchdown run, cutting the deficit to 16–13.
Houston answered with Stroud’s second touchdown pass to Collins, a 22-yard connection that restored the Texans’ 10-point lead.
The Cowboys responded again. A deep completion to George Pickens helped set up Williams’ second rushing touchdown, bringing Dallas within 23–20.
Williams then capped a 14-play, 81-yard drive with a 2-yard touchdown run, giving Dallas its first lead at 27–23 with 11:17 remaining.
Prescott and Lamb deliver late
Houston reclaimed the advantage with a nine-play, 87-yard touchdown drive. Woody Marks scored on a 6-yard run, and Fairbairn’s extra point put the Texans ahead 30–27.
That left Dallas needing another answer.
Prescott delivered it with the touchdown pass to Lamb in the final minute. Aubrey’s extra point pushed the Cowboys’ lead to four, forcing Houston to seek a touchdown on its last possession.
The Texans exhausted their timeouts, and a defensive offsides penalty against Dallas with nine seconds remaining extended the tension. But Houston could not complete its final desperation pass.
Quick turnaround for Dallas
The victory followed Dallas’ 34–31 loss to Baltimore the previous week and kept the Cowboys from falling to 1–3.
Dallas now faces a short week before hosting the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at AT&T Stadium on Thursday, October 8. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. Central.
