A Hebron High School teacher accused of an inappropriate relationship with a 16-year-old student turned herself in to Carrollton police on Tuesday and now faces two felony charges.
Gloria Martinez Resendiz, 35, surrendered at the Carrollton Jail on October 6 before authorities transferred her to the Denton County Jail, the Carrollton Police Department announced.
Resendiz faces charges of indecency with a child by sexual contact, a second-degree felony, and child grooming, a third-degree felony. The charges are allegations, and Resendiz has not been convicted.
Police said a Hebron High School administrator contacted the department on September 27 about concerning electronic communications between Resendiz and a juvenile student. The student had taken one of Resendiz’ classes during a previous school year but was not enrolled in any of her classes when the investigation began.
Carrollton detectives said they found evidence indicating an ongoing inappropriate relationship.
An arrest affidavit obtained by NBC 5 DFW reported that investigators reviewed phone records, deleted messages, and locked journal entries. The affidavit alleges the student wrote that she and Resendiz first kissed in March 2026 and later described the two as being in a romantic relationship that they had to hide.
Investigators also found records indicating Resendiz and the student communicated through FaceTime and WhatsApp multiple times a day during a two-month period, with some conversations lasting more than seven hours, according to the affidavit.
A magistrate signed a probable cause determination supporting the indecency charge on October 2, NBC 5 reported. Police have not released information that could identify the juvenile.
Lewisville ISD placed Resendiz on administrative leave after receiving the allegations and barred her from district facilities. Hebron High School Principal Amy Boughton told families that the district would continue cooperating with police and that counselors would remain available to students and staff.
Carrollton police said investigators continue to review evidence and additional charges could be filed.
