Century Communities has acquired Grapevine-based HistoryMaker Homes, tripling its Dallas-Fort Worth community count and expanding its supply of lots for future homes, the company announced Thursday.
The national homebuilder purchased substantially all assets of HMH Lifestyles, L.P., which operates as HistoryMaker Homes, according to its press release. HistoryMaker began in Fort Worth in 1949 and builds exclusively in the metroplex. Century describes it as Texas’ longest-standing production homebuilder.
Century did not disclose the purchase price or exact numbers of communities and lots involved in the acquisition in its announcement.
“HistoryMaker Homes gives us the scale, land position, and local talent to accelerate our growth in Dallas-Fort Worth, one of the largest housing markets in the country,” Rob Francescon, CEO of Century Communities, said in the release.
What changes for homebuyers
Century will combine its existing DFW operations with HistoryMaker into one division based in Grapevine. HistoryMaker division leaders and team members will join Century.
Construction, sales and closings will continue on schedule, and buyers already under contract will continue working with their local HistoryMaker team, the company said.
The acquisition brings a homebuilder with five generations of family ownership into the publicly traded company. HistoryMaker has completed approximately 25,000 homes since its founding more than 75 years ago, according to the release.
“As we looked to the future, it was important to find a partner that shares our commitment to quality, integrity and the customer experience, and that would give our people room to grow,” Nelson Mitchell, CEO of HistoryMaker Homes, said in the release.
Land development partnership continues
Century will also maintain a land development relationship with Jabez Development, HistoryMaker’s sister company. Jabez will finish developing land in select communities for Century, and the companies expect to pursue additional DFW land opportunities together.
Jabez Development, a residential land development company, and ONM Living, a build-to-rent company, will remain independently owned and continue operating, according to the release.
As previously reported by The Dallas Express, higher housing inventory gave DFW buyers more choices and negotiating power in March 2026. The acquisition announcement did not outline changes to home prices or buyer incentives.
