Emergency crews took at least seven people to hospitals late Saturday after a Grand Prairie police pursuit ended in a multi-vehicle crash on eastbound Interstate 30 near State Highway 161.
Grand Prairie officers were pursuing a sedan around 10:45 p.m. when the pursuit ended just before the President George Bush Turnpike interchange, FOX 4 reported, citing Grand Prairie officers at the scene.
Crash sends seven to hospitals
The collision involved at least four vehicles. They came to rest on the freeway’s grassy right shoulder, according to the report.
Medical crews transported at least seven people to local hospitals. Officials described the injuries as ranging from serious to non-life-threatening. The report did not identify the hospitals or say how many people suffered serious injuries.
Arlington Police Department personnel helped manage traffic as emergency crews responded. The collision forced lane closures and caused significant backups along I-30 into Saturday night.
Reason for pursuit remains undisclosed
Authorities had not released what prompted officers to pursue the sedan or identified anyone involved as of the report’s publication Sunday morning. Grand Prairie police are investigating the incident.
Previous Grand Prairie pursuit turned deadly
Grand Prairie Police Officer Brandon Tsai died on November 14, 2022, after his patrol vehicle crashed while he pursued a driver who fled a traffic stop, as previously reported by The Dallas Express.
