Grapevine police are seeking potential additional victims after arresting a former youth church leader and youth football coach on a charge of sexual abuse of a child.
Carlos Ernesto Ramos, 39, was arrested on August 26, the Grapevine Police Department announced on Tuesday. Detectives are investigating whether there may be other victims connected to Ramos. Police said the only known allegation occurred in 2023.
Ramos is being held in the Tarrant County Jail on a $500,000 bond.
Police said the investigation remains ongoing and that they will not release additional information because of the case’s sensitive nature and the alleged victim’s age.
Ramos is accused of sexual abuse of a child. The charge is an allegation, and he is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court
According to police, Ramos volunteered as a youth leader at a Grapevine church from 2020 through 2023. He also served as an assistant coach for a youth football league from 2022 through 2024.
Police said simply knowing Ramos or participating in a group he led does not, by itself, mean someone needs to file a report.
However, detectives are asking parents or guardians to contact police if their child has disclosed information about Ramos or if they have specific information indicating their child may have experienced inappropriate conduct involving him.
Police acknowledged that coming forward in cases involving children can be difficult and encouraged anyone with relevant information to contact investigators.
“We recognize that coming forward in circumstances involving a child can be difficult,” the department said.
