A man was shot early Wednesday after running outside to stop someone from breaking into his truck in a parking lot on Harry Hines Boulevard, according to Dallas police.
The shooting occurred around 1 a.m. in the 11500 block of Harry Hines Boulevard, an overflow lot used by Dallas Cabaret, officers at the scene said, per Fox 4 KDFW.
Officers responding to the call found a man with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. He told police he received an alert that someone was breaking into his truck and went outside to confront the suspect, who shot him while driving away.
The victim was transported by ambulance to a local hospital in serious condition.
Investigators later determined that several other vehicles in the parking lot had also been burglarized.
The suspect remains at large. Police have not released a description of the shooter.
