North Texans Answering Call to Donate to Flood Victims

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – North Texans are answering the call to donate to victims of Hurricane Harvey.

Cars Lined Dallas Parkway Tuesday to drop materials off at Trusted World, the donation headquarters for local volunteer agencies. CEO Michael Garrett says donations started coming in as early as Saturday.

“It has been pretty much car, after car, after car with people donating stuff,” Garrett said.

Sherry Scott is in North Texas after evacuating her Houston area home and said she had to help out.

“I went to Wal Mart and spent about $1,200 on food and clothes and brought it straight here,” said Scott.

Trucks are being loaded with the donations and being taken to agencies across the metroplex. Hundreds of people are helping to sort the donated items. Scott said she wanted to stay and help out.”

“I asked if they needed help and they said yes so here I am,” Scott said. “Dallas is awesome. They’ve been so great. Thank you Dallas.”
