More Than a Dozen Toxic Waste Sites Have Been Flooded

(WBAP/KLIF) – The Environmental Protection Agency reports at least 13 toxic waste sites were flooded or damaged by Hurricane Harvey.

The impact of the flooding is unknown because no one has yet been able to get to them safely.

The EPA says it will send inspectors to the sites as soon as the floodwaters recede.

The 13 affected sites are known to contain industrial waste from petrochemical companies, acid compounds, solvents, and pesticides.
