Richardson Police Narrow Search for Missing Toddler; Father Put On Ankle Monitor

RICHARDSON (WBAP/KLIF News) – The Richardson Police Department has narrowed its search for a missing 3-year-old girl.

Sherin Mathews was last seen around 3 a.m. on Saturday when her father, Wesley Mathews, left her in an alley behind their house as punishment for not finishing her milk.

According to an affidavit, he told investigators he left the child outside for about 15 minutes and when he returned she was gone.

Police are searching in smaller areas where they believe leads might take them as opposed to a wide outdoor area.

Richardson Police Sergeant Kevin Perlich said Wesley Mathews has not been named a suspect but does have restrictions.

“He was ordered to go and surrender his passport and be equipped with an ankle monitor,” he said.

Perlich said investigators are looking into every aspect of this case.

“He’s certainly a concern to us and we’re not ruling out any other aspects. We’ll be investigating that until we find something different,” he said.

Mathews was arrested on child endangerment charges and has been released on bond.
