U.S. Representative Joe Barton Apologizes After Graphic Nude Photo Hits Social Media

ENNIS (WBAP/KLIF News) – U.S. Representative Joe Barton (R-Ennis) issued an apology on Wednesday after a graphic nude photo of him of surfaced on social media this week.

The 32-year Republican expressed remorse for disappointing the people he was elected to serve.

“While separated from my second wife, prior to the divorce, I had sexual relationships with other mature adult women. Each was consensual. Those relationships have ended. I am sorry I did not use better judgement during those days. I am sorry that I let my constituents down,” he wrote.

Barton is the longest-serving Congress member from Texas and the former Chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee.

Barton announced his re-election bid earlier this month but told the Texas Tribune that he is reconsidering in light of the scandal.

“I am talking to a number of people, all of whom I have faith in and am deciding on how to respond, quite frankly.” he said.

It has yet to be determined who posted the photo to social media.
