First Thanksgiving for Many Refugees

(DALLAS)WBAP/KLIF- Over 400 refugees are learning what Thanksgiving is all about at a northside Dallas church.

The turkey and trimmings for Thanksgiving at St. Johns Episcopal Church in Dallas is part of an effort by Gateway of Grace Ministries Executive Director Samira Page.

“They are going to experience a holiday that is distinctly American and they are going to hear what this holiday is all about
and become more asimilated to the culture.”

Page, a former refugee herself from Iran, says the dinner is a great way to welcome them and make them feel a part of the community. The dinner is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at St. John Episcopal Church at 848 Harter Road in Dallas.
