Super Bowl champion Bryce Huff has endorsed Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton (R) for U.S. Senate, saying he moved to Texas to start a business and wants a senator who will get government out of entrepreneurs’ way.
Huff outlined his support in a written statement provided exclusively to The Dallas Express through Paxton’s campaign.
“When I retired from the NFL in California with plans to start a business I moved to the state where small businesses thrive, Texas. Ken Paxton has led that, by holding bad actors responsible.”
An endorsement rooted in entrepreneurship
The former defensive lineman tied his endorsement to his belief that private enterprise, rather than government, drives economic growth.
“I’m excited I get to vote for the nations greatest attorney general to represent my new home in the US Senate. We need someone who understands that a strong economy doesn’t come from government, it comes from government getting out of the way so that entrepreneurs can build. That’s Ken Paxton, he has my full support.”
From the NFL to a new business
Huff announced his retirement in March after six NFL seasons with the New York Jets, Philadelphia Eagles and San Francisco 49ers. He was part of Philadelphia’s Super Bowl-winning team and finished his career with 24 sacks in 81 games, according to the 49ers.
In his retirement announcement, Huff described building Naberstone, a company focused on safety infrastructure for lithium-ion battery fires, including detection, suppression and containment systems.
Paxton faces state Rep. James Talarico (D-Austin) in the November 3 election. As previously reported by The Dallas Express, Paxton campaigned alongside sheriffs and other law enforcement officers in Fort Worth in July, emphasizing police support and border enforcement.
Early voting runs October 19–30.
