BEDFORD (WBAP/KLIF News) – Bedford Police are warning the public about a possible child predator that has reportedly been approaching kids in a suspicious manner.
One incident happened on Saturday around 10:30 a.m., in the 300 block of Eagle Court.
Investigators said a man in a red SUV allegedly approached three young girls and asked them if they wanted to see his dog.
The girls refused to get inside the vehicle and the man drove off.
A little later, the man returned and stopped in front of the house again. This time, a mother noticed the car and stepped outside before the man drove off again.
The woman described the driver as an “older white male”.
Lieutenant Kirk Roberts said similar incidents have been recently reported in nearby cities.
“One in Haltom City. One in Hurst where there was a red vehicle. I believe in those two incidences it was described as a truck,” he said.
The incident has parents in the neighborhood on edge but Roberts is asking everyone in the city to be on alert.
“We’re asking all parents but anybody really to watch their children closely and if they see a suspicious red vehicle to do ahead and contact their police department immediately,” he said.
The department said it’s contacted the Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD and made them aware of the situation.
Anyone with information is asked to call Bedford Criminal Investigations at 817-952-2411 or Tarrant County Crime Stoppers at 817-469-TIPS.
