SAN MARCOS (WBAP/KLIF News) – A San Marcos police officer was shot and killed Monday afternoon while serving a warrant.
According to a release issued by the City of San Marcos, which is about three and a half hours south of Dallas, the officer and a few colleagues were serving warrant in the El Camino Real subdivision when the suspect shot him multiple times.
The officer was wearing a protective vest but died of his injuries at the Central Texas Medical Center.
Officials have not released the name of the officer pending the notification of next of kin.
The city said the suspect was taken into custody following a standoff with the San Marcos/Hays County SWAT.
The suspect was shot during the incident and was transported to an Austin hospital.
